“ZafarShahi Dastarkhwan”- The Nonveg foodathon at Old Delhi

“Purani Dilli ki Sair Murg Gosht Ki Dawat Ke Saath”

The very thought of Mughal Era, brings back those flavours from the Royal Kitchens. The Mughal rule and the legacy of their cooking methods has left an indelible mark on the culinary landscape of India. Food has been a connector between cultures and people for ages now.
The rich gravies, flavoured spices define the Mughal culinary heritage. Be it the niharis, roganjoshes, achari meats or the do pyaazas, cooking them was no less than an art in itself. And the course would be incomplete until there was ‘Biryani’ made alluring by the use of flower petals, saffron, and edible gold and silver foils. The Khanasamas have always carried a special mention and have held great importance in the royal courts. They came all the way from Central Asia to cook special pakwaans (food items) for the royal families during the Mughal era. Needless to say, the scent of the food of those times still lingers in lanes of Shahjahanabad till date.
In an attempt to give those flavours and appease your taste buds, Delhi Karavan is doing the Purani Dilli ki Sair Murg Gosht Ki Dawat Ke Saath, where as you explore the streets of Old Delhi, you also get a taste of food heritage and don’t forget to nibble some of these delectable delicacies.
